CHICKPEA STICKS
Looking for something salty and crispy to eat during the afternoon? Look no further! I guarantee that this recipe will fulfill your needs!
You don’t need many ingredients. Just mix everything in one bow, mix with your hands and shape the sticks. I always use gloves when I need to mix things using my hands, but I think this is really personal.
Recipe Benefits
- Simple ingredients
- Gluten-free (obviously!!)
- Vegan (egg-free, dairy-free)
- Grain-free
- Oil-free
- Sugar-free
- Easy to make – another recipe on my list that is family-friendly. You can make it with your kids.
Ingredients for the chickpea sticks:
- 1 cup of chickpea flour
- 2 cups of olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast (optional, you can also add cheese)
- 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds (you can also use chia seeds or linseeds)
- 3 tablespoons of water
- 1 teaspoon of sal (if you are adding nutritional yeast you can add a bit less salt)
- 2 tablespoons of tapioca flour
Making your chickpea sticks:
Step 1: Preheat the oven and prepare a baking pan
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a large baking sheet with tin foil and spread a bit of oil or parchment paper.
Step 2: Combine all the ingredients in a bow
That it. Really straightforward. Add all the ingredients in a bowl except the tapioca flour.
I initially mixed a whisk and then started using my hands to make the dough. Finally, I added 2 tablespoons of tapioca flour and continued to mix with my hands until really firm. The dough looks really shiny.
I like using a glass bowl because it’s much easier to wash. I like boiling water to clean it without stress! 🙂
Step 3: Shape the chickpea sticks
I tried small sticks, long sticks, and flat circles. You and your family can be creative and try other shapes too!
Step 4: Bake the chickpea sticks
Place the chickpea sticks in the baking pan and bake for 15-20 minutes. Until it’s golden brown.
Step 5: Let it dry and enjoy!
I let the sticks dry on a rack for a few minutes, and it is ready to eat with any dipping sauce of your preference. I love eating with hummus!
Hope you liked this recipe!
